About the Methods
Southland Behavior & Training employs proven, science-based methods to achieve behavioral change in all animals, regardless of species, breed, or problem. The focus is on teaching the animal what TO DO in the situations they find difficult.
By using real-life reinforcements and determining how the problem behavior functions for the animal, lasting change can be reached. Pain, force, and intimidation will never be used, as these methods are unnecessary, increase fear and anxiety, and often backfire. I will never recommend a choke, prong, or shock collar of any kind.
Dogs need instruction, not intimidation. Reinforcement-based methods address not just the problem behavior but also the underlying cause, making for enduring, meaningful solutions.
